Learning in a virtual world
HGSE Professor Chris Dede
Teams of students can use a videogame-like interface to learn in a Multi-User Virtual Environment (MUVE). In River City MUVE, students take on a virtual identity and go back in time to "River City." By interacting with virtual citizens and interpreting evidence, students form hypotheses about an ecological problem in the City. In this video, Chris Dede, Wirth Professor of Learning Technologies at HGSE and developer of the program, describes River City MUVE and evidence of its effectiveness for achieving learning goals.
